My Story

I made my very first scrapbook out of construction paper, computer clip art, and actual "scraps" from our trip.  Oh yes, and most of the sticker aisle from the big box stores!  Then I discovered patterned paper, decorative edged scissors, and rubber stamps.  I was hooked.

I went to a rubber stamp party and watched a 90 minute presentation where a wonderful lady stamped on just about everything that didn't move, and she invited us to make a simple card afterwards.  For the life of me I couldn't get that card to look like hers, and even though I bought stamps from her, they sat in their case, waiting to be cut out, for at least a year.  I was a bad stamper.  My scrapbooking and card making continued to evolve, and I bought every kind of stamp and tool out there.  Because I was left to my own devices, my scrapbooks looked like my baby daughter helped me do them, and I often said she had done them to avoid embarrassment.

Then, at a local scrapbook store, the owner told me about Close to My Heart.  I had confided in her that I wanted to sign up as a consultant for another company and she said DON'T!  Try CTMH.  I looked them up on the web, and instantly fell in love.  I signed up as soon as received an idea book from my to-be upline.  I had never even tried the products, but I just KNEW I would love them!

Once I received my consultant kit, I started stamping.  Low and behold, I wasn't a BAD STAMPER!  I just needed to be able to SEE through the stamps!  And my love affair with CTMH began, just like that!

At the time I signed up I was a full time middle school teacher, with two kids in day care.  My husband worked long hours, I worked full time, and my two kids were...well, kids!  But I made time for CTMH whenever I could.  I started out doing just a couple of parties, which led to creating a club, which led to vending at crops, which led to holding workshops, which led to building my own Close to My Heart team!  One thing led to another and I quit my job to be home with my kids and work my business full time.  Believe me when I say I understand what it's like to have "no time".  I found out that I DID have time, I just had to manage it a little better.  Instead of watching reruns on TV or reading a favorite book for the umpteenth time, I could work my business.  I also found that my scrapbooks suddenly looked gorgeous!  Close to My Heart's How-To philosophy spoke to me, and I don't scrap without one of their books in front of me!  This wonderful company saved me from being a bad stamper and having terrible scrapbooks!!
